Merthyr Rocks
A series of rock nights are coming to Merthyr’s Myfanwy Theatre, with live bands booked for tomorrow night; Friday, 30th January, then again next month, on Friday, 13th February and Friday 20th February, with a BBC Radio Cymru’s Battle of the Bands night and a Welsh Rock night, to celebrate Saint David’s Day, with Radio Lux, Y Betti Galws, The Epaulettes and Gallowbrirds, on Friday, 27th February at The Myfanwy Theatre, Merthyr Tydfil College, all at 7.30pm. Acoustic Open Mike
For a social evening with a difference, where people can come to meet friends and be entertained. An opportunity for singers, musicians and poets to perform in a relaxed atmosphere, at Acoustic Open Mic Nights in Merthyr Tydfil. For those who don’t want to perform, comealong and just listen to the others. The first night is on Tuesday, February 10th, at the Belle Vue, Merthyr Tydfil. Happiness Week
Glamorgan Gates are running Happiness Week from Monday, 9th to Friday 13th February, for anyone with the winter blues or fed up of that post Christmas feeling, who’s invited to book themselves onto one of Glamorgan Gates' workshops during Happiness Week, to ‘find your smile again!’ There willbe lots of events happening including: 'The Art of Happiness' workshop run by a Buddhist Monk, meditation classes for beginners or the more advanced, Tipples and Tunes night for a great evening out in a relaxed environment. The mic will be open for you to sing, play an instrument or read poetry. Or for those who prefer the other side of the mic, just come along to listen, sit back, relax and enjoy some of Merthyr’s talent! There’s also 'Singing for Joy' workshop - Use your voice to make you happy - you don't have to be able to hold a note! 'Happy in Your Body' workshop - Using different techniques including belly dancing, find out how to feel happy in your body, 'Improve your self esteem' workshop - A workshop on ways to improve your confidence and self esteem and lots more.
