[Photo] We will be holding our next Welsh Language Marketing Forum at the Arts Council of Wales’ offices in Carmarthen on June 17th between 11am—1pm. Euros Lewis will be discussing his work as a community arts practitioner in Wales. There will also be a talk by Steve Eaves from Cwmni Iaith, the language planning agency, who will be discussing how the agency have helped organisations in developing bilingual practices and identified the language requirements of various jobs. (Please note that there will no longer be a talk from Elwyn Williams about his reach figures for Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s business plan, as mentioned in the March e-newsletter.) [Photo] Bookings are now open for Action Plan, the AMA workshop on strategic marketing for marketing managers who want to appraise and refresh their marketing strategy and explore new approaches and ideas. Audience and Organisational Development Consultant Caroline Griffin will show delegates how to select and balance different marketing strategies; how to present them to staff, board and stakeholders; and how to link their marketing strategy to their organisation’s business plan. The Action Plan workshop will be held at St David’s Hall in Cardiff on 18th June between 10am to 5pm. The cost is £129 + VAT for AMA members and £185 + VAT for non members. [Photo] [Photo] Creative media company Earth Monkey will be running a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) course in Pontypridd to help web users get the most out of their website. The course will be run by James Daniel and will cover copywriting basics, creative aspects of SEO, how to use the web for PR and using newsletters and other relationship building tools. The course will be held at Hawthorne, nr Pontypridd on May 21st between 12.30pm - 5.30pm. The course costs £197 but a reduced rate of £97 is available until May 1st. For further information click here. [Photo] The Arts Council of Wales is offering up to 5 bursaries of £240 + VAT off the cost of your 2009 AMA (Arts Marketing Association) conference place. The Conference is taking place from Tuesday 21st to Thursday 23rd July 2009 at the Curve Theatre Leicester.
The topic of the Conference is ’Exploring artistic excellence and public engagement’. To be eligible to apply for the bursary you must be working in Wales, be in the first five years of your arts marketing career and not attended an AMA conference before. Priority will be given to those based at smaller arts organisations. The Bursary does not include travel and accommodation. If you’re a non-member of the AMA you’d pay the full price of £487 to attend but with the Arts Council of Wales bursary you are offered a 50% discount so you’d pay £247. [Photo] A new initiative launched by the WCVA could provide useful support to arts organisations who want to monitor government decision making processes as part of their public relations strategy.
The Voices for Change Cymru website (voicesforchangecymru.org.uk) aims to connect third sector organisations, including arts organisations, with local and national decision making. The website includes a Monitoring Service section which provides the latest information on the National Assembly for Wales (NAfW) and the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) including the work of the heritage, culture, Welsh language and sport department. [Photo] The Theatrical Management Association will hold a seminar in London this May focusing on joint marketing initiatives. The seminar will examine how those in the arts and entertainment sector can join forces with other visitor attractions and tour operators to benefit from joint marketing initiatives and regional promotions.
Speakers will include Ray Jones of entertainment travel specialists Superbreak, Jo Litt from the Royal Shakespeare Company, Sarah Ogle from Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Theatres and Jemima Pyne from Tate Liverpool, Steve Mannix, Cultural Programmes Advisor for 2012 Olympics, as well as experts from Visit Britain. The seminar will be held at the Prince of Wales Theatre, London on May 7th and costs £120 for First TMA/SOLT member delegates, £90 for further member delegates and £160 for non-members.
