Open Mike Night

Voice Workshops
If you have an interest in singing, then why not go along to the Merthyr Aloud Community Choir, a series of fun voice workshops with Heather Murray – Natural Voice Practitioner, at St Davids Church Hall, and learn some beautiful harmonies from different musical traditions. No experience needed – all songs taught by ear. Sessions run 1pm – 3pm on Thursday afternoons. Writing, Recycling and Meditation
A number of weekly activities for adults began this month at the Glamorgan Gates shop on Merthyr Tydfil High Street, including: Recycle your old Jewellery on Mondays at 10am – 12pm or 1pm - 3pm. Or you could get creative with a a pen or key board: You've heard it said that everyone has a book in them. Now is your chance to write yours. Whether it be a collection of poetry or short stories, a novel, non-fiction or memoir. This class will inspire and guide each student towards the completion of their book. The focus in each workshop is entirely on students' work with a strong commitment from every member of the group to help each other achieve success. Whether it be something already in progress or just a seed of an idea, bring it along to our sessions. Creative Writing The Next Step: Write a Book, runs at 10am – 12pm, on Wednesdays together with Creative Writing at 1pm – 3pm, also on Wednesdays. If you would like some inspiration to fuel your writing. These workshops, led by a tutor, will provide you with lots of fun ideas and suggestions to develop your prose or poetry. There is also Bhudist Meditation on Thursdays 6-8pm, together with other projects running this autumn, and Glamorgan Gates also want to hear what potential workshops or courses you are interested in! Sesiwn Jamio
Do you play an instrument? Guitar? Drums? Trumpet? Or bongos? Would you like to practice your Welsh in an interesting and fun environment? Then why not come down to the Ganolfan’s Jam Session and jam along with other musicians. Listen or join in. All styles welcome, Rock, Jazz, Punk, Folk etc. Instruments provided or bring your own. Only £1 entrance, at 6-8pm tonight (Thursday 17th September). There will also be two Folk Taster Sessions on 19th and 26th September at 12.30pm – 1.30pm, which is free entry, all this at Y Ganolfan Gymraeg / The Welsh Centre, Pontmorlais, Merthyr Tudful, CF47 8UB.
