Night at the Museum
Cyfarthfa Castle present an Egyptian themed, family friendly, late night event: Night at the Museum on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 1st and 2nd at 7pm - 9.30pm. Circus Skills Workshop
Build your confidence and skills through learning some Circus Skills: As part of Adult Learners Week, there will be a free Circus Skills workshop on Wednesday, 2nd June at 1pm - 3pm in Troedyrhiw Boys and Girls Club, the Willows, Bridge Street, Troedyrhiw. The session is open to young adults aged 16 - 25 years. Open Mic Night
The next Open Mic Night at the Imperial Hotel welcomes invited author Meic Stephens on Thursday, 10th June at 7.30pm. Meic Stephens, born in Trefforest in 1938, was the founder of Poetry Wales 1965 and its editor until 1973. Meic stood as Plaid Cymru candidate in Merthyr Tydfil at the General Election of 1966 and was White Robe of the Gorsedd of Bards, 1976. Meic writes obituaries of eminent Welsh people for The Independent. The language of his home is Welsh, which he learned as an adult. Meic will be reading in both English and Welsh. Open mic contributions from either language are warmly welcome. Open Mic Nights are free entry, so why not come along and join in or just relax and listen to the others. Bio-Diversity Poetry and Music
In addition to the monthly open mic poetry nights at the Imperial Hotel, next month also welcomes Peter Finch for a themed poetry and music open mic night on Thursday, 17th June, focusing on bio-diversity and the environment as part of Bio-diversity Week. For further information contact

Welsh Music Festival
The third Bedroc Welsh language music festival takes place this June, from Friday 18th until Sunday 20th, with performances from prominant performers in the Welsh language music scene, including Meinir Gwilym, Brigyn, Heather Jones, Masters in France, Bryn Fon, Yr Ods, Merthyr’s Betti Galws and many more. The Friday and Saturday nights cost £7 each or £10 for a weekend ticket covering both evenings. Other events are free entry, including Gwyl Feithrin (Welsh Nursery Festival) Saturday morning at the Workies from 10am, followed by family fun with S4C children’s characters, stalls and other attractions Saturday afternoon at 1pm until 3pm, finishing off with live acoustic music at 1pm until 6pm before the big Saturday night gig at 7pm.
