Arts and Crafts Exhibition
As part of British Tourism Week, Enterprising Art & Business will be holding a week long exhibition of local arts and crafts at their town centre shop; 32 Lower High Street, Merthyr Tydfil from Monday 15th March until Saturday 21st March, with a launch event on Tuesday 16th March, at 5.30pm. For those intersted in setting up their own business, Enterprising Art & Business can give you the opportunity to gain experience in setting up and running your own business, with expert advice and access to resources. Artwork & Poetry Wanted
Artwork and poetry wanted for the next Merthyr Tydfil calendar. MTCBC Arts and Libraries are on the lookout for local poetry and pictures from people of all backgrounds; male or female, young or old to contribute to the 2011 Merthyr Tydfil calendar/booklet: “Merthyr Tudful – Pictures and Poetry / Lluniau a Lleisiau”. The calendar/booklet will include a collection of images (paintings, drawings, artwork etc.) and poetry with links to Merthyr Tydfil (people, places, ideas etc.). Local content is vital and language content needs to be appropriate for all ages. Submitted images should be good quality digital “jpeg” images on CD or original copies size A3 or smaller. Digital images would be preferred as MTCBC cannot be held responsible for any work lost or damaged. Submitted poetry should be in digital Windows “Word” or “Notepad” formats on CD or emailed to arts@merthyr.gov.uk. Please remember to include your name, contact details and age range. Deadline for all entries is Tuesday 1st June 2010. Entries should be sent or handed into Carolyn Jacob at Merthyr Tydfil Central Library. Welsh Books
This Saturday, 27th February, Siop Y Ganolfan at the Canolfan Gymraeg (Welsh Language Centre) will be holding a Diwrnod Llen (Literature Day) with authors Mihangel Morgan and Gwyn Morgan. The event is a free entry Welsh language event, starting at 10am with a children's workshop with Gwyn Morgan. Then at lunch time from 12pm there’s an opportunity to have a chat with with the authors, finishing with a multi-generational session, primarily for adults at 12.45 with Mihangel Morgan. Youth Film
Zoom Young People’s Film Festival 2010, promises to be bigger and better than ever! Running from the 2nd to the 5th March, Zoom ‘10 promises great films, exciting workshops, the Zoom Young Filmmaker Awards Ceremony and some very special surprises.
